Before you shower your loved one with fragrant flowers, take a moment to consider if they suffer from hay fever or allergies, or perhaps there is someone in their household that does. Lavender flowers have a zingy herby like fragrance and come in elegant purple or mauve/blue flowers. Boronia is a very fragrant little bush with little bud shaped flowers that come in lime green, bright pink and brown. Hyacinths have a very delicate fragrance and flower in the spring while the Daphne is a very fragrant winter bush with sweet tiny flowers that look amazing tucked into bouquets, and the Lilac has a pretty dark purple, mauve or white flower with a sweet perfume. Orchids also have a lovely fragrance and their pretty flower makes them a popular winter wedding flower choice for a bouquet.
Sadly, roses that have been commercially grown, as a rule, do not really have a perfume, but some varieties such as the Gem/Jacaranda – bright pink – roses do. Sweet Peas are a very dainty climbing flower with a nice perfume and come in a variety of nice soft scented shades, and Earlicheer has cream flowers that are very scented and is available in spring. Violets are another spring flower that has deep dark purple flowers with a sweet fragrance. The Peony is another lovely fragrant flower with multiple petals in colours of burgundy’s whites and pinks, and the water lily is delicate flower with a romantic perfume. Lily of the valley is a stunning white flower with a beautiful fragrance.
